After winning 3 out of 6 races, Frenchman Julien Briché (Peugeot 308 TCR) arrives at the Red Bull Ring track (Austria) as the leader of the Touring Car Series (TCR) Europe. His compatriot Aurélien Comte completes the provisional podium of the championship, in 3rd position.

Six drivers are competing in the Peugeot 308 TCR during this event: Jimmy and Teddy Clairet, Gilles Colombani, Aurélien Comte and Julien Briché. Due to the high performance level of the 308 TCR this season, the WSC technical department has decided to modify the Balance of Performance (BOP) by increasing the Peugeot's minimum weight by 20 kg. Via the "compensation weight" the weight of the Peugeot 308 TCR has also been increased by 50 kg, bringing the excess weight to 70 kg compared to the last round of TCR at Spa Francorchamps. Despite these modifications, the Peugeot 308 TCR drivers showed resilience and a noticeable level of performance, particularly in Race 2.
