Peugeot 208 Racing TC6

in Documentation Peugeot

Peugeot Sport and Stellantis Motorsport are proud to launch the Peugeot 208 Racing TC6, the track version of the Peugeot 208 Racing concept. Stellantis Motorsport confirms its ambition to make motorsport accessible to all, without compromising on safety, quality, or performance. Developed in collaboration with experienced drivers and tested under demanding conditions, the 208 Racing TC6 embodies Stellantis Motorsport's core values: dynamism, accessibility, and driving pleasure. A true race car, it is designed for both emerging talents and seasoned drivers alike.

Building on its commercial success, the Peugeot 208 range welcomes a new model designed exclusively for customer racing on track. A true return to roots for Peugeot Sport and Stellantis Motorsport, whose recent history includes iconic race cars such as the 208 Racing Cup (RPS), RCZ Racing Cup, 308 Racing Cup, and 308 TCR.

The design and development process spanned over a year, during which the Peugeot 208 Racing TC6 successfully completed more than 5,000 km of testing under strategically varied conditions. Engineers worked tirelessly to fine-tune, optimize, and reinforce the reliability of every detail, ensuring the lioness becomes the new benchmark in its segment.

The 208 is a genuine race car, proven in real-world conditions with renowned drivers such as Jimmy and Teddy Clairet, Aurélien Comte, and Kevin Ropars, on legendary circuits including, to name a few, Val de Vienne, Le Castellet, and Magny-Cours.

Core values at the heart of an innovate project: performance, accessibility and security.

Performance:

The engineers at Satory focused their efforts on four key areas: engine, transmission, handling, and braking.

Engine:

The development team made a bold choice to manage the engine electronics exclusively with motorsport-grade components: Marelli ECU, motorsport-grade wiring looms for both engine and cockpit. This setup offers greater tuning flexibility compared to standard OEM electronics. The turbocharged engine delivers 145 hp and 240 N.m. of torque. With a wide usable power band, it responds instantly to driver input and delivers top-tier driving sensations.

Transmission:

The main objective was to define gear ratios that perfectly match the engine’s broad power band. To meet the demands of circuit racing, Stellantis Motorsport equipped the Peugeot 208 Racing TC6 with a reinforced 6-speed gearbox featuring shorter ratios than the production version. This setup ensures performance and versatility across various European and international tracks.

Handling, the Peugeot touch:

« For PEUGEOT, taking driving pleasure seriously means delivering exceptional performance and unique driving sensations... »

This worldwide recognized signature is amplified by Peugeot Sport’s expertise.

KW shock absorbers were developed and specifically calibrated for the 208 Racing TC6 by Stellantis Motorsport engineers. Combined with a chassis lowered by 50 mm, they allow full exploitation of the standard tires’ potential.

The standard steering calibration was also revised to offer direct response to driver input. For seasoned competitors seeking constant optimization, the rear axle geometry is adjustable.

The 208 Racing TC6 delivers a truly unique driving experience.

Braking:

« To go fast, you must know how to brake... And to brake well, you must feel the tire's grip. »

The development team worked to provide drivers of all levels with precise braking feedback to enhance their performance. The braking system of the Peugeot 208 Racing TC6 was redesigned based on valuable feedback from test drivers. Oversized components from the production line were selected, brake assist was removed, and brake pads were specifically adapted for sprint and endurance racing. Finally, every driver and team can adjust brake balance, via the hydraulic brake bias valve, to meet their driving style.

With every braking maneuver, the expertise of Stellantis Motorsport engineers is felt.

The results speak for themselves: A remarkable performance gain—around 5 seconds per lap faster than its illustrious predecessor.*

*Average gap observed during sprint races held as part of TC France at Circuit Paul Ricard in 2025.

Accessibility:

The Peugeot 208 Racing TC6 establishes itself as the new benchmark for accessibility at this level of performance. The reality is simple: it’s the most affordable brand-new, fully assembled, race-ready car on the market.

Bold choices—fully aligned with Stellantis Motorsport’s demanding quality standards—have enhanced the durability and reliability of the car's components. As such, OEM parts with proven reliability were specifically selected, as the reinforced gearbox from production shows.

Smart and distinctive choices were made to reduce running costs, such as using production road tires and limiting the number of bespoke components. Finally, an engine map compatible with Superethanol E85 is available, leading to a significant reduction in fuel costs and CO₂ emissions. Just €16* worth of fuel for a 25-minute sprint race at Circuit Paul Ricard—an unbeatable choice.

The outcome ? A drastic decrease in running costs.

Security:

The Peugeot 208 Racing TC6 features a chassis built to meet the most stringent safety regulations in production and is equipped with a multipoint welded roll cage compliant with the latest FIA safety standards.

Driver protection inside the cockpit is ensured by a Sparco FIA-approved racing seat, 6-point harness, and roll cage padding.

Finally, the fire safety system meets the latest standards, with a FIA-compliant extinguisher suitable for use with Superethanol E85.

The 208 Racing TC6 raises the bar for driver safety.

A high-level equipment package and onboard experience

The cockpit ergonomics of the Peugeot 208 Racing TC6 were designed with a single goal: to enhance the driver’s onboard experience, allowing full focus on performance.

Each competitor can adjust their driving position, via the Sparco bucket seat and tulip-style steering wheel.

A specific anti-glare treatment has been applied to the dashboard.

From the steering wheel or the central console, the driver can easily activate the “Pit Limiter” and “Full Course Yellow” functions.

On the XAP dashboard, the driver has access to all essential race information. Between races, the team can use several pages that facilitate the operation and analysis of the Peugeot 208 Racing TC6.

The Marelli ECU enables data acquisition and analysis to optimize both car and driver performance.

Sparco, Marelli, KW, AP Racing, and many others — Peugeot Sport has partnered with globally recognized motorsport experts to design a true race car.

They said:

François Wales, Director of Customer Racing:

« Derived from the production model as well as the rally version, the 208 Racing TC6 was eagerly awaited by many of our customers around the world. By leveraging the best of our developments in both motorsport and production, we create synergies that allow us to offer tailored products that meet expectations without compromising on budget, reliability, safety, or driving pleasure. »

Teddy Clairet:

« I had the opportunity to take part in the development of the Peugeot 208 Racing TC6, and it’s truly an ideal car for learning. It’s accessible to all drivers and very enjoyable to drive. The braking quality is outstanding and gives a perfect feel for managing trail braking. The front axle is precise, and the rear helps position the car well. It’s playful, but never goes beyond the limit. Whether it’s the chassis, engine, brakes, or gearbox, everything is a clear step forward compared to the ‘208 RPS’. In terms of ergonomics and cockpit, you really feel like you’re in a proper little race car: the driving position, the pedal setup, the sound… Every time you get out of it, you do so with a smile!" »
